Idea's for an Unforgettable Baby Shower!!

Do you want to throw a shower that people are talking about for years?? Of course you do!! Here are some ideas and tips to make that happen.

TIPS & IDEAS:
  • DETAILS!!! This one cannot be stressed enough. There is no need to spend a fortune to make it look great. Just focus on the details and you will be amazed at how it turns out.
  • Instead of a theme that may be difficult to find items for, go for a color scheme instead. Color is a fantastic way to make everything look rich. For example, I recently threw a baby shower for a baby boy...(Hi Greyson!!) and knowing that his nursery was in deep chocolate and blues I really played that up. I used our chocolate favor boxes and tied different hues of blue ribbon on each one and decorated with those. I also used dishes of the same scheme to present the cheesecake dessert. Then with a large amount of balloons the shower was festive and simple. Very chic.
  • Personalize. If possible use the babies name or last name on whatever you can. This makes it more than just another shower. This can be done as simply as using wooden blocks to stack and spell out the name. Or make your own large blocks (our of cardboard cubes) to go with the theme and personalize those.
  • Instead of using traditional "disposable" decorations, use actual baby items. I was recently at a shower for a friend where they used a clothes line on the wall and hung adorable pink out fits from it. Not only did it look amazing they were then a gift for the baby at the end. Fabulous.
  • My favorite time to throw a baby shower is AFTER the baby arrives. Now I understand that this does not suit everyone. You need to go with what works for you. I don't like to know what I am having before I give birth so for me this works great. For the first few weeks not much is needed anyway so by the time the shower comes along it's just in time to get all the fun stuff. I also like this because there have been times that ultrasounds are wrong... Ugh. But most of all it's a great way for everyone to meet the new little one!!
  • Games are fun but not necessary. You should really consider what type of shower it is. Make sure if you do have games that they go with the theme or are personalized to the guest of honor.
  • A scrapbook with room for guests write advice is a wonderful keepsake. Take that up a notch by adding photo's of that guest later or have a poloroid on hand to take the picture and put it right next to their entry.
  • Why not include dad in the festivities!? A couples shower is very in right now. Especially while we are in the summer months. Get everyone together and have a BBQ.
  • Instead of games try some fun group "activities". Decorating onsies for the new baby is a fun thing for mommy to use and remember the great day. You can buy all different sizes and use fabric paints and ribbons or other embelishments. If it is warm outside consider setting up a tie-dying station in the yard and let every guest tie-dye a onsie!!
